Mazda Transmission Specialist

ERG's standard labor charge for rebuilding a Mazda 5-speed is $325.00. Parts are additional.

An average (or somewhat worn) Spec Miata transmission will require 3rd and 4th gear syncro rings, a 3/4 shift fork, a tailshaft bushing and all the seals and gaskets.  These parts run about $150.00.   A more seriously abused transmission will also need 1st and 2nd syncros, 1/2 shift fork and some or all of the bearings.  Mazda RX-7 transmissions are more variable, but will always need a tailshaft bushing, some syncros and a bearing or two. EGR stocks most of the parts needed for Mazda transmissions.  Customers can also supply their own parts. For example, if you're a racer registered with Mazda Comp EGR can e-mail a parts list after teardown of your transmission and customers can order the parts using their account and have the parts shipped directly to EGR....just tell them to send the parts to "John at EGR"... they have my address! This can save you quite a bit of dough.  EGR also has a decent stock of used parts to help you save too.

EGR can also put Miata gears into an RX-7 case, affording a closer ratio transmission without spending a ton of money.  This requires a donor Miata trans and some minor machining.  The price for this service is $375.00 plus $100 for machine work .

Need a higher 5th gear for your Miata?  Tired of buzzing the engine on the freeway?  EGR can install a taller 5th gear.  Call or e-mail for details. Turnaround time for most transmission work is 2 days.
